The reality of Instant Noodles in India. 15+ Noodles in India Ranked from Worst to Best

Noodles in India Ranked from Worst to Best.

Convenient affordable and delicious instant noodles are a go-to snack option for hostlers, kids and many others.

But are you aware of the ingredients that goes in the making of your favorite noodles, of course you know that they are not the healthiest of options but believe me, they are worse than what you think.

Not just Maida but the excessive amount of Sodium, Acidity Regulators, thickeners, Humectants, flavor enhancers, colors added to them not only makes them unhealthy but also harmful.

So what do we do?

Is there any healthier option available? let us find out the best instant noodles in the Indian market.

In search of the best noodles in the market, I picked up almost 15 most commonly consumed noodles in India on the basis of their ingredients and the nutritional information.

I have categorized all of them into three categories.

1. Maggi, Top-Ramen, Ching’s, Yippie, Knorr, Chicken, and Cup noodles.

Category number one includes noodles by Maggi, Top-Ramen, Ching’s Schezwan noodles, Yippie noodles, Knorr, Maggi hot Heads, Chicken noodles and Cup noodles.

It is said that these are the most widely consumed noodles by Indians, why because these are made from 100% refined flow that is maida.

In addition to this, the quality ingredient list of the most popular Maggi masala noodles is full of course and numbers denoting acidity regulators, thickness humectants and flavor enhancers.

All that our body doesn’t need.

Ching’s Schezwan noodles contain chemical compounds like Sodium, Hydrogen carbonate, Disodium 5 – Inosinate, Silicon dioxide, and TBHQ. Scary isn’t it.

Some of these chemical compounds are also derived from Petroleum.

Other noodle packets in this category are no different. All these noodle packets have more than half the daily recommendation of Sodium and this tastemaker is the main culprit.

High sodium leads to an increase in blood pressure and body weight. You will be shocked to know that these tastemakers have only 20 to 30% of spices in it rest are just fillers.

And please don’t get carried away by the vegetables on the front label they hardly have any.

And if you were preferring chicken noodles thinking that you would get extra protein. You should know that these noodles have only 5% chicken bits.

The bottom line is this you should avoid these noodles as much as possible because your body deserves better.

2. Patanjali Noodles, Atta and Oats Noodles by Maggi and Yippie.

Category number two includes Patanjali Atta Noodles, Maggi Atta Noodles, Maggi oats noodles and Yippie Atta noodles.

These noodles are extensively marketed as healthy noodles, while Maggi claims their Atta and oats noodles to be a balanced kickstart for the day.

Patanjali says “झट पट बनाओ, बेफिक्र खाओ”(Make quick, eat carelessly) no doubt these noodles can be made झट पट. But can we eat them बेफिक्र?

Let’s find out

First of all, I feel Maggi has wrongly named this packet as oats noodles as it has only 39.1% of oat flour in it, not even 50% and mind you rest is maida.

The packet of Maggi atta noodles mentions that it has the fiber of 3 roti, but when you face the reality you find that it has only 4.5 grams of fiber.

Even a small 7-inch whole wheat roti has 3 grams of fiber.

The dietary fiber in Patanjali noodles is even less. Moreover what percentage of whole wheat flour and refined flour, it has is nowhere mentioned.

Another interesting observation is that Yippie Atta noodles have 44% atta, Maggi atta noodles have 78 percent atta, whereas you compare the fiber content of Yippie atta noodles, it is much more than Maggi atta noodles.

What’s wrong with Maggi are they really using whole-wheat flour.

We can’t say apart from this, these so-called healthy noodle packets are also equally high in Sodium and have added acidity regulators, thickeners, humectants, flavor enhancers and colors.

So we have seen that the noodles in both these categories are equally worse. It’s just a marketing strategy that makes one look better than the other.

So are there any better noodles available in the Indian market. Thankfully yes.

3. Natural Not so famous noodles

Category number three includes Naturally yours Red Rice Noodles, Multi-millet noodles, Some More Multi Millet noodles, and Nalabagam Soya noodles.

Made from all-natural ingredients, these noodles have 0% maida.

If you go through the ingredient list of any of the noodle packets in this category you will find that they are made using minimum ingredients and spices.

The fortified wheat flour used in them is the healthier version of wheat flour. Rest ingredients include the millet flour, edible vegetable oil, salt, purified water, herbs, and spices

What really makes me recommend them to you is that all these noodles are devoid of acidity regulators, thickeners, humectants, flavor enhancers, colors, and all other fillers.

So definitely these are the best instant noodles available in the Indian market. Even though these are way better than the most instant noodles in the market.

These cannot be replaced as your regular means but yes this should definitely replace your favorite Maggi masala noodles

I want to confirm that whatever I have spoken in this article is my honest opinion.

None of the brands mentioned in any of these categories have paid me.

That’s all. I hope you found it to be helpful if yes then let me know in the comment section
