20‌ ‌Shampoos in India ranked from Worst to Best.

Which shampoo do you use, DOVE, PANTENE, LOREAL or SUNSILK?

Have you ever read the ingredients list of your shampoo? If you haven’t, then let me tell you this, it scary! There are many toxic chemicals in shampoos that are linked to hair fall, irritation, illness, and even cancer. And if you’re unknowingly using a toxic shampoo, it is more harmful to your hair than any good.

Using such shampoo will gradually weaken your hair, and you may face issues like dandruff, hair fall, and even disease. It is crucial to use a shampoo that is gentle on the hair and the underline skin. So which shampoo is the best?

Let us find out.

I’ll be showing you the ingredients of almost 20 shampoos that are bought from the supermarket and some from online and thoroughly examined every shampoo and was quite shocked as well as disappointed.

You too will be shocked to know that the most popular shampoos which are used by the majority of Indians have the maximum number of toxic chemicals in them.

And when I say toxic I mean they are damaging. These ingredients include detergents, petroleum products, insecticides, pesticides, and whatnot.

Harmful chemicals like:

Sodium Lauryl SulphatePolyquaternium-6Peg-100 StearateMethylisothiazolinone
Sodium Laureth SulfatePropylene GlycolPEG-nTetrasodium EDTA
DimethiconeCarbomer TRIDECETH-n DMDM Hydantoin
Cocamide MEALaureth-nAmodimethicone Fragrance/Perfume
MethylchloroisothiazolinoneSteareth-6BHTColour…..and much more

One more thing which is noticed during the intensive search on these shampoos was the ingredients in the different varieties of the same brand were almost the same.

I have divided all these 20 shampoos into four categories based on the number of harmful chemicals in them.

So let us see in which category all these shampoos falling.

Category No. 1

It includes shampoos like

GARNIERLOREALCLINIC PLUS
TRESEMMEPANTENE PRO VSUNSILK
HEAD N SHOULDERSDOVEALL CLEAR

The above shampoos in the table shown have more than ten toxic chemicals in them. These, in my opinion, are the worst of the kind. It is so disappointing to know that the shampoo brand which we have been trusting since childhood are the main villains.

Not only these but the so-called Herbal shampoo by HIMALAYA also fall in this category.

Other herbal shampoos like DABUR VATIKA and NYLE naturals are no different.

Even the not so popular shampoos like KESH KING, MEERA and KARTHIKA shampoos are no good.

We all know that beer is suitable for washing hair. However, this made from real beer shampoo PARK AVENUE is also truly disappointing

All these shampoos have everything which is harmful for hair, including strong fragrances and artificial colours.

Coming to Category No. 2

which includes shampoos like JOHNSONS BABY and WOW’S APPLE CIDER VINEGAR shampoo, these are the little better than category no. 1 but are still far from the best.

If we compare these two shampoos with each other, then wow is better, as it is free from the sulphate.

Overall they have around 6-7 toxic chemicals including artificial fragrances and cosmetic colours.

In Category No. 3

falls shampoos like AYUSH, BIOTIQUE, and PATANJALI. These are the shampoos that are trying to fool their customers using over smart marketing tactics.

All these shampoos mentioned only ten %of the ingredients on the bottle. I don’t understand if you’re shampoo is made from 100% botanical extracts then why do they have to hide 90% of its ingredients.(image)

And what is the reason that the 90% per cent of the ingredients of their shampoos fall in the soap base to which the customer has no excess. If only 10% of the ingredients in your shampoos are from natural herbs, it doesn’t make that shampoo an ayurvedic medicine. Does it?

At least the shampoos in a category no. 1 are frank about their ingredients. Such smart practices don’t make these shampoos trustworthy.

AYUSH SHAMPOO, although it has mentioned three preservatives used in it, which are all highly toxic.

Similarly, PATANJALI SHAMPOO contains urea, artificial color, and fragrance.

BIOTIQUE has completely hidden all of it.

The bottom line is this. I cannot recommend any of these shampoos as they hide all their ingredients used in it.

So we have seen more than 15 shampoos in three different categories, but none of them has them impressive.

So is there a shampoo in the market that can be used on a daily basis without worrying about its side-effects.?

Category No. 4

Thank god there are shampoos by KHADI which fall in this category, which is the best organic shampoo in India.

These are the shampoos that have no toxic chemicals; these are herbal shampoos in the real sense. They have no toxic chemicals, no strong fragrances and not even artificial cosmetic colours.

#MYOPINION

These are the shampoos that I can recommend it to anybody of any hair type without an iota of doubt.

KHADI SHAMPOOS comes in many variants in which all of them are equally good.

Also, I want to make this very clear that this article is not sponsored by khadi or any other brands for that matter. Whatever I’ve spoken here is my honest opinion.

So I hope you’ve found this article helpful, I’ve tried to cover almost all the shampoos available in the Indian market, but still, if I‘ve missed the shampoo which you are using, I would suggest you to please go through with its ingredients, you’ll surely fall into one of these categories.
